The reality is that the separation between my country of origin and myself is rooted in forces beyond my control, and that leaves me feeling powerless. It is a frightening feeling—one I know many others share. Through my photographs, I hope to reach them, to connect in some way.
We have the right to speak up and express our discomfort, to reveal the tension between freedom and oppression. So why not start there—by scratching the surface, even just a little? It may remain a source of frustration, but it is also a beginning, a spark that can ignite hope and inspire the dreams of others.
